“Will there be a sequel to The Agency?”

The question I am asked most by readers across the globe, including those from Lagos, Abuja, London, and a surprising number of messages from Accra, is this: Will there be a sequel to The Agency? 

The short answer is yes, although other books are also in view. 

The longer answer requires me to talk about Dale, Ladun, and Elizabeth—the three major characters from The Agency who, if I am honest with myself, never fully left the room after I finished writing them. There’s so much more to them, both before and after the events of The Agency. 

Dale believes he is done with the life he had before the novel’s events. However, the problem with people who are done with things is that things are rarely done with them. This aspect of his character would obviously need to be explored further. 

Ladun still has a whole lot ahead of her; she is just getting started. Getting to know her father better, working closely with him, and watching her parents now united in marriage is a totally different space from what she was used to. It would be interesting to watch her come to terms with these changes. 

I am less certain about Elizabeth. She is the kind of character who knows exactly what she wants and precisely how to get it, which makes her very difficult to write and very easy to miss when she is not on the page.
