“Will there be a sequel to The Agency?”

The question I am asked most, from readers across Lagos, Abuja, London, and a surprising number of messages from Accra, is this: Will there be a sequel to The Agency?

The short answer is: yes, other books are in view.

The longer answer requires me to talk about Dale, Ladun, and Elizabeth — the three characters from The Agency who, if I am honest with myself, never fully left the room after I finished writing them.

Dale is done with the life he had before the events of the novel. Or he thinks he is. The problem with people who are done with things is that things are rarely done with them.

Ladun has a decision to make — one the novel only hinted at in its final pages. She has been making that decision in the back of my mind for the better part of a year now.

Elizabeth I am less certain about. She is the kind of character who knows exactly what she wants and exactly how to get it, which makes her very difficult to write and very easy to miss when she is not on the page.
