A Mourning Love Story (AMLS) is a contemporary fiction novel by Ẹniọlá Ọṣìtẹ̀lú, set in Lagos.
Newly widowed, Ìrètí must defend Eko Prime Cuisine, the restaurant empire she co-built with her husband, from predatory in-laws. But love returns unexpectedly, and the deadliest threat lurks around her inner circle.
What kind of book is it? Is it a romance?+
It is contemporary fiction with a love story running through it. At its heart, AMLS is about grief, family, power and second chances. If you enjoy family drama, business intrigue and a slow-burn romance, this one is for you.
Do I need to have read “The Agency” first?+
No. AMLS is a standalone novel, so you can start right here.
I don’t speak Yoruba or Pidgin. Will I follow the story?+
Yes. Yoruba and Pidgin are woven into the story the way Lagos actually speaks, and the meaning comes through the scene around them. You don't need to speak either language to enjoy the book.
What inspired the story?+
Ẹniọlá wanted to write about what happens after the funeral, when the condolence visits end and the questions of who owns what begin. Ìrètí's story is about loss, but it is also about a woman refusing to be erased from the life she co-built.

When is the release date?+
AMLS is out now on Amazon worldwide. The African print edition releases on 4th November 2026, and orders placed now will be delivered on or before that date.
Why is AMLS already on Amazon but not yet released in Africa?+
Amazon serves readers in the diaspora, so the book went live there first. For readers in Nigeria and Ghana, we wanted the book at a fair local price, so we ran a pre-order campaign at a special discounted rate for the African book community.
